PRODUCTION ONE 2026:
THE TIN WOMAN
by Sean Grennan
directed by Brett Turner-Valenta
13 to 28 February
Joy has Jack’s heart – literally. She received it as a transplant. But rather than finding peace in the new opportunity she has been given, Joy spirals into despair. Why has she been given more life? Whose heart now beats in her body? Meanwhile, Jack’s parents and sister grapple with the sudden loss of a deeply loved young man. Can a meeting between Joy and Jack’s family bring the possibility of acceptance and peace to them all?
Based on a true story, Sean Grennan’s humourous, heart-warming play explores the challenges of moving on, and the joy of a second chance. Malvern Theatre Company is delighted to present this poignant, life-affirming story about the threads that bind us together.
PRODUCTION TWO 2026:
THE BREADBOX
writing coordinated by and produced by Danny Gibbins
Director TBC
13 to 15 March
A young couple is drawn into the past through exploring the wares at an elderly widow’s garage sale. Unbeknown to them, each seemingly unassuming item holds echoes of the intergenerational struggles of women throughout pivotal historical periods. The well-loved, handmade breadbox has witnessed love, tragedy, courage, humour and change, and just like the loaves it once contained, each story has been kneaded and baked to perfection.
Malvern Theatre Company’s up-and-coming young team will showcase their talents in this, their second self-devised production. 4 performances only – don’t miss what our accomplished next generation of theatre-makers can bring to the stage!
PRODUCTION THREE 2026:
THE VISIT
by Friedrich Dürrenmatt
directed by Andrew Ferguson
17 April to 2 May
‘The Visit’ is a darkly satirical and tragic comedy that explores justice, vengeance and moral decay. When billionaire Claire Zachanassian returns to her impoverished hometown of Güllen, she offers the citizens a fortune – on one chilling condition: they must kill the man who once betrayed her. Initially appalled, the townspeople slowly rationalise the murder.
Dürrenmatt masterfully exposes the fragility of ethics under financial desperation, weaving absurdity and irony into a haunting critique of collective guilt. As Claire’s grotesque entourage and surreal demands unfold, the play explores the dark side of human nature, especially societal compromise. ‘The Visit’ is a masterpiece of 20th Century European theatre – we are proud to bring this seldom-performed work to the Malvern stage.
PRODUCTION FOUR 2026:
MISERY
by William Goldman
directed by Keith Hutton
19 June to 4 July
Paul Sheldon, successful romance writer, and creator of the beloved character Misery Chastain, drives off the road during a snowstorm in the Colorado Mountains. He wakens in the home of his “number one fan”, Annie, who vows to help him recuperate. Paul slowly realizes that her obsession with his work is far from benign. When Annie learns that Paul intends to kill off Misery, her behaviour becomes increasingly erratic. What ensues is a nail-biting game of cat-and-mouse survival for Paul.
‘Misery’ is a tense psychological thriller exploring celebrity and fandom, and the line between obsession and madness. From the chilling novel by Stephen King, adapted by Academy-Award winner William Goldman, this production will keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
PRODUCTION FIVE 2026:
WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING
by Andrew Bovell
directed by Peter Newling
21 August to 5 September
Alice Springs in the year 2039. A fish falls from the sky and lands at the feet of Gabriel Lord. It’s been raining for days, and Gabriel knows that something is wrong. Eighty years earlier, his grandfather had predicted that fish would fall from the sky, heralding calamity.
Written by award-winning Andrew Bovell (‘Lantana’), the action takes place between the worlds of these two men, spanning continents and generations. Interweaving human stories and environmental concerns, the play asks how can we face the future, without understanding the past? This epic play, of family legacies, betrayals and forgiveness, will be a production not to be missed.
PRODUCTION SIX 2026:
DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS
by Jeffrey Lane and David Yazbek
directed by Alan Burrows
23 October to 7 November
This modern musical is based on the 1988 MGM film of the same name. In the exotic French Riviera, Lawrence makes his living by smooth-talking rich women out of their money. He is an old hand and has got his technique down to a tee. But then he bumps into Freddy who takes a humbler, more laid-back approach, with emotional lies.
The men decide to form a double act, but their egos soon clash, and the French coast isn’t big enough for both. To settle their rivalry, they agree on a bet: the first to swindle the town’s latest young heiress can stay, and the other must leave. Hilarity and confusion ensue as they pull out all stops to prove who is the better conman. Don’t miss this laugh-a-minute musical gem!
Adult: $29 (no concessions)
Youth: $22 (25 years or under)

The perfect gift for your family or friends, with an option to suit all.
